Sad farewell to a dear friend.. Kevin Smith

Dear readers, subscribers and fellow truth-seekers.

It is with a heavy heart and blurry eyes that I bring the sad and shocking news to you that Kevin Smith, a very dear friend to both James Horak, myself and many others throughout the truth community, has last night left us to journey on this mortal plane alone.... You are sadly missed my friend.

As many of you will be aware, Kevin had a heart attack 3 days ago and after having a stent put in was sent home from hospital yesterday... (a bit too early perhaps). Last night he died, leaving the rest of us and his family reeling in shock at loosing him so soon after such a close call.

If it were not for Kevin, this blog would not exist. He introduced me to James Horak and the rest, as they say, is history....

Kevin, we are all devastated by your death, leaving a gaping hole not only in the lives of those who loved you but the wider community as a whole. You are (I can't bring myself to say were just yet) a shining light of no-nonsense truth and wisdom, laughs and chuckles, thought provoking questions and open minded discussion on matters of great importance.

As I sit here and write this through blurred eyes and tear stained face, I cannot help but wonder and hope that you are now in a place in the Sun or an EMV, now aware of ALL that is, ever was and ever will be and chuckling your little socks off. Save those of us who love you a seat for when we eventually join you.

Until then we will honor your memory and dedicated hard work to continue to openly speak the truth about matters that affect Humanities and this Planet's tenuous future.

You will be missed by more than you could ever have known possible...... God Speed Kevin xxxx

All our love and respect..

Torz, James, Shuny, Crystal and anyone else who's ever known you or called in to your show...

Safe journey Kevin , leaving trails of glory behind you , you did great work . I hope the community tales care of his wife and son, that is my main concern since hearing this in the early hours of this morning , I hope that they are being looked after and that continues on.

  2. Thank you Torz. I am equally indebted to Kevin Smith - without him we all would not have met, with him came truth and purpose.

  3. A lovely piece. Kevin was a wonderful human being. I found his show in 2007 and listened eagerly and intently from then on. I learned so much from him. He had a fantastic analytical mind, and pulled no punches. He leaves a gaping void in the world of alternative broadcasting, and in my heart as well. He was a good friend, and I will remember him and his teachings fondly for the rest of my days. Peace, Kevin.

  4. And it was his birthday. He had made the entire month of August "free to watch" for nonmembers as his birthday present to the listening public. That's the kind of guy he was (is). His lovely wife and young son in Thailand will need our prayers.

  7. This thread is well done and timely, an appreciation of a man who devoted himself to all of us in ways I find a wonder. For one who said he never believed in anything the seeming incongruity is stark...that is until you realized what he meant by belief. Taking some liberty here, I think he meant resting comfortable in any unfounded belief yet to prove more than belief.
And to this I toast him memory with the finest wine I could find today. Lift your glass and join me and the wish that he's found something worthy of his belief. JCH

  8. Kevin's exit from this mortal world will leave a hole in my heart. His show was unparalleled in it's variety of subjects and guests. His perspective was at times deep, funny and no BS. I found his show after James Horak had been his guest and I saw a comment that lured me in to become a member. There are literally dozens of not just good shows, but awesome shows with exposure to things I never had thought about. My condolences to his close friends and family.

  10. Hi Folks... As you know, Kathy and I were very close to Kevin. I last spoke with him Tuesday afternoon as we were moving out of the Prairie Schooner (our RV), and into our new place in Jerome, Az. It was terribly hot, we were exhausted with sweat drenching our clothes as we loaded on item after another into our truck under a searing sun. The move stopped, and we chatted for awhile on speaker phone.

Kevin sounded tired, but promised he was feeling much better. His humor was intact as was his incredible wit as he joked about how he couldn't live someplace so close to the gates of Hell. We laughed and Kathy agreed it was a crappy place to exist. Kevin then told us he had a new song to share with us the following day, promising to call us the next afternoon.

As I write this Kathy and I are numb from the news. Kevin was a family member of ours, not only a friend. Over the years we shared his concerns, frustrations and disappointments during calls that lasted hours. We plotted and schemed on how KSS, and the music, would succeed and grow. Kevin had high hopes, huge dreams, and an indomitable spirit. To say he will be missed is a misnomer. It has been less than 24 hours... The silence is deafening, the vacuum suffocating. Our hearts ache...

As for his wife and son; He never shared any information about contacting them. I've ask others he knew, and they don't know either. What we know very well is that he wished he could have joined them. He deeply loved his wife and son. I have no idea if they have received the news of his passing.

Life continues for us all. Kevin made the world a batter place by his presence. In all the things he did to bring us together, and share himself with us, he created a community. I've always said to bring out the best in others you must give the best of yourself. Kevin is an example of how true my observation was. The world is a better place because he walked beside us...

Watch FB for an update. I plan to broadcast tonight on the KSS Channel, or one I might need to create. Those details later today.

    Best Wishes
    Jerry Wills

  11. It is hard to think of the great influences each of us has in our lives and what shapes our opinions and points of view. The older we get, the less our opinions and points of view become malleable. We're set in our ideas and we "know" we are right. But then, someone like Kevin comes along and rocks all that out from under us, sharing an enthusiasm for learning, truth, and knowledge. He certainly made me sit up and say "I never knew what I didn't know!!" Like Kevin said, most people view life as "it ran me over yesterday, it ran me over today, and it's likely gonna run me over tomorrow". He didn't want people to live that way, but most of us do drift into that mindset. Kevin truly gave his listeners an alternative to "blind surrender". He compelled us hit the reset button, and change the way we viewed life. It was a great awakening for me, who had no involvement or even interest in this genre until his show was shared with me a couple of years ago. Kevin inspired me not just by his devotion to research and his tireless pursuit of the truth, but his ability to confidently say "I don't know but I'm going to do all I can to find out". Kevin did burn the candle at both ends, but he was a driven person and I think was doing the thing he was born to do. I think many of his listeners, myself included, would have liked for him to be able to figure out a way to consolidate his love of the show with love of his family...to them I say thank you for sharing Kevin with us, he was a blessing in our lives and will be sorely, sorely missed.
